Warrior Axe Builds
Hello Guru! I've recently decided to run an axe on my warrior and I'm looking for a good build that isn't necessarily wiki or cookie cutter, just all around good builds...thanks for the help!

Your post is one huge oxymoron. If you're so desperately in search of an original build, then how about you make one yourself?

Elite attack skill
Attack skill
Attack skill
attack skill/utility
Flail
Utility
Utility
Res
12+ 1 (helm) + 1~3 (rune) in weapon mastery (axe in this case)
rest between Strength and whatever 3rd attribute your 'Utility' runs off, if needed.
And utility is basically whatever - self-heals, enchant removals, hex/condition removals, defensive shouts - just stay away from Healing Prayers and defensive stances and you're golden.
There's the ultimate template, fill in skills as you see fit. Not cookie-cutter, not wiki, and better than what most PuG tards bring as pathetic excuses for 'Warrior builds'.

My ideas:
bring a 16 total weapon mastery (sup. weapon mastery rune in weapon helm)
switch to a minor weapn mastery rune if your hp gets low or you're suffering death penalty (14 weapon mastery in this case, but you get your hp back)
9 shield requirement (for pve, I go tactics shield, for PvP, strength)
you can add more to your shield requirement if you're going for 0 stat secondary skills.
leftovers to secondary
Elite Axe Attack, Dismember (if you don't bring eviscerate), axe interrupt, axe attack, IAS, utility, utility, Res Signet [re-usable skill if possible]
No axe build is viable without deep wound. [in fact, no warrior build PERIOD is viable without deep wound]

While I agree with the axe build, the sayign that No warrior build is viable without a deep wound is false. There are a few warrior builds, the predominant one being dslash/sy build that do not have a deep wound in them and are very effective and work extremely well. Plus you can always have the deep wound on another character such as say a cruel spear paragon or another warrior.

Yikes! I get so many conflicting statements on this forum about superior runes on warriors. Before I stopped reading this forum a little over a year ago, the super elite folks here like Ensign said that a warrior not using 16 in his weapon attribute were bad. Of course he said it a lot more impressively. you know the way he talks lol.
A build I used for a long time was [skill=text]eviscerate[/skill] [skill=text]executioner's strike[/skill] [skill=text]penetrating blow[/skill][skill=text]bull's strike[/skill] [skill=text]tiger stance[/skill] [wiki]For Great Justice!"[/wiki] [skill=text]rush[/skill] [skill=text]Resurrection Signet[/skill] This build worked great, but about a week ago I tried a [skill=text]dragon slash[/skill] sword build and am very pleased with the great dps. I also advise taking [wiki]save yourselves![/wiki]

What campaign are you playing? I mentioned Eviscerate, but you can't cap that until the end of the game. Another good elite you can cap pretty early in the game (with a run to Droks) is [skill=text]cleave[/skill] Then use cleave, dismember, Executioners strike. Really, it depends on what campaign you're in.

ensign ONCE said that 16 in axe is the way to go. however, updates post nightfall disabled changing armor in pvp arenas, which means that it's better to run 14 just to be on the safe side.

In that case, there is a good thread about axes here with a lot of discussion, some helpful, some not( see croms above post) about different axe builds.

Whats a good replacement for flail for proph only? Possibly flurry or frenzy?

You're trying to maximise your damage so Flurry is kinda meh. Frenzy is good but not noob friendly. Either take a cancel stance (recommended, rush is a particularly good one), or get your monk to keep Prot Spirit on you all the time. Human monks will probably get annoyed at having to do it so often, but heroes won't complain.

I don't really like your second option without access to Nightfall(or GW:EN), simply because you don't have heroes. But if you can find some kind human Monk to keep PS on you, then sure. Lina is not an option. I'd much rather run Flurry + Zealous if Frenzy + Rush made me blow up too often. Learning to cancel Frenzy is of course ideal.
Ontopic, Stormlord's template is a good one to make your own build.

Knowing what I do now...
Proph-only, I'd probably bite the bullet and Frenzy my way through it - seriously, in comparison with later campaigns, nothing hits spectacularly hard (hydra come to mind) - and with Brawler or Sentry insignia, a max shield, and a 9/10/11-spec "WY!" give you a near enough constant ~45 extra armour, which just as good as negates Frenzy's drawback.

Flurry is newb friendly, but sucks.
If you really want to do something in proph only, learn to use frenzy. Learn when to use it, when not to use it, and bring a cancel stance. It sucks, but you've got to learn to do with a screwdriver what everyone else is doing with a power drill.
Or you could just go buy the other campaigns.

Learning frenzy and doing it right is part of the fun of playing a warrior imo.
Flail is for lazy warriors (in normal mode)

Look, I am probably a noob considering the total amount of time I played this game compared to you. But there is something I don't quite understand. Is Deep Wound that precious?
PvE mobs don't heal that well (specially if you go for their monks first) and on PvP games Monks can usually handle the 20% HP off. Now, I know Deep Wound also causes less benefit from healing but I think this is so small that you can't really persieve it. Honestly, I have never died because of DW and I don't consider myself a pro player. Why do you guys like it so much, if not for triggering other skills conditions that require Deep Wound?
